Rejection happens to everyone all the time and no one likes it. A particular event of rejection creates and triggers a lot of emotions that leave us feeling very vulnerable. Some people bounce back quickly after experiencing rejection while others seem to take a lot longer to get over extreme sadness, find peace and recover mentally and emotionally.

“Rejection can disappoint you, depress you and may even stop you in your tracks. Learn not to take rejection so personally. If you're honest with yourself and believe in your work, others will too.”

― Bev Jozwiak

Deal with rejection in a healthy manner

We naturally want to avoid distressing situations at all costs so it's just normal for us to protect ourselves after suffering from rejection. We get so traumatised and we tend to let fear and anxiety consume us. But even though it hurts so bad, it’s really important for us to undergo the stages of grief after being rejected to be able to fully deal with it the healthy way.

“Most fears of rejection rest on the desire for approval from other people. Don't base your self-esteem on their opinions.”

― Harvey Mackay

What are your core beliefs? Studies show that our beliefs contribute to how we react to painful rejection. To establish core belief system, start by doing regular daily reflection because it helps a lot in shifting to a mindset that focuses more on growth and personality development. Also give yourself positive affirmations everyday as a reminder of your self-worth. This will surely give you enough strength to cope in case you would be rejected again in the future.

“It is necessary to put yourself out for rejection, and accept that you will be rejected.”

― Robert Genn

You may hear others say to you “Hang in there! It’s not the end of the world.” Although you would think that it’s easier said than done because they don’t have any idea what you’re going through but never let negative feelings get the best of you. Just take all the advice you can get. Always remember that your feelings are only temporary - may it be anger, sadness and self-pity. Have the courage to move forward, knowing that you have learned valuable lessons from this experience.

“A rejection is nothing more than a necessary step in the pursuit of success.”

― Bo Bennett

“Do not waste yourself in rejection; do not bark against the bad, but chant the beauty of the good.”

― Ralph Waldo Emerson

ToxicSituation-Sept2019.png

A lot of people are victims of toxic situations. In fact, we are all surrounded by a lot of negative energies and emotions that drain us until we do not have the willpower left to face them. They paralyse us and undermine our capacity to function well and prevent us from reaching our full potential.

The sad truth is, no one is exempted from dysfunctional environments. We are all eventually bound to experience this at some point. It doesn’t matter what your current status is in life is at the moment, you can still fall into the sinkhole of unfavourable circumstances. But whatever these circumstances are, the great news is that every problem has a solution, even if it’s not exactly the kind of outcome you hoped for.

Toxic emotions and experiences from our past can sabotage us or keep us stuck with the same old thoughts, patterns, and regrets.

― Debbie Ford

If you are in a toxic environment, you will waste away.

― Richie Norton

The worst scenarios can absolutely destroy confidence and self-esteem so if you feel that you’re moving towards a life of utter distress or have been stuck deep into this slippery slope territory and would like to completely walk out of it and start a cleanse, you need to make a firm decision that you are going to follow through and never look back.

What you believe is very powerful. If you have toxic emotions of fear, guilt, and depression, it is because you have wrong thinking, and you have the wrong thinking because of wrong believing.

― Joseph Prince

My encouragement: delete the energy vampires from your life, clean out all complexity, build a team around you that frees you to fly, remove anything toxic, and cherish simplicity.

Because that's where genius lives.

― Robin Sharma

It would be very hard to progress in life if you constantly feel broken. Allow yourself to heal and keep your peace. Also, bear in mind that recovery never happens overnight; it should be an ongoing process. Everyone’s recovery journey is very personal and unique so you need to peel off the layers of yourself to get in touch with your innermost beliefs and convictions.

Once you're in a position where you can choose to not be around toxic environments, just do that as much as you can.

― Frankie Cosmos

Starting today when you begin to see signs that things are becoming toxic, do something about it right away. Life is too short so be happy and live your life to the fullest!

Go the extra mile

When you try to give 110% effort in everything you do, you can definitely go further, and perhaps even go beyond the previous benchmarks that you have set. Always deliver more than expected. Constantly push the boundaries. There are no limits to what you can accomplish!

“If you're going to be a winner in life, you have to constantly go beyond your best.”

― Robert Kiyosaki,

Businessman and Author of Rich Dad Poor Dad

Uncover your potential using self-affirmation

When you work towards your goals, sometimes self-doubt and the fear of failure can get in the way and you feel discouraged as a result of the prolonged negative thinking. Escape this pattern and start using self-affirmations to gain the confidence you need to succeed. There are already so much negativity around us so we need to balance everything out and use affirmations as our mental vitamins to improve our mindset.

“Regardless of how you feel inside, always try to look like a winner. Even if you are behind, a sustained look of control and confidence can give you a mental edge that results in victory.”

― Diane Arbus, Photographer

Practice is everything

The more you do something, the better you get at doing it. Practicing effectively is the only way to excel so if you want to develop important skills, you need to have the patience to practice.

“Winners embrace hard work.”

“No matter what happens on the field,

getting an education makes you a winner.”

Lou Holtz,

Former Football Player, Coach, and Analyst

When at first you don’t succeed, don’t give up easily! Quitting will not solve anything. You may not be able to beat the odds on your first try but you need to let your challenges shape you, don’t let them bring you down. They are building blocks of life that gives you the opportunity to grow and flourish.

The mind is powerful. When you establish and continue to develop the right belief system, you will find yourself winning victory after victory while overcoming your weaknesses at the same time. Learn how to face and conquer your fears. Don’t tread lightly. Always keep the momentum up!

The road that leads to success may be long and winding, but it doesn’t really matter how you travel; as long as you have the right mindset, your personal journey will be a more meaningful and enjoyable experience.

The winner's edge is not in a gifted birth, a high IQ, or in talent. The winner's edge is all in the attitude, not aptitude. Attitude is the criterion for success.
