Rejection happens to everyone all the time and no one likes it. A particular event of rejection creates and triggers a lot of emotions that leave us feeling very vulnerable. Some people bounce back quickly after experiencing rejection while others seem to take a lot longer to get over extreme sadness, find peace and recover mentally and emotionally.

“Rejection can disappoint you, depress you and may even stop you in your tracks. Learn not to take rejection so personally. If you're honest with yourself and believe in your work, others will too.”

― Bev Jozwiak

Deal with rejection in a healthy manner

We naturally want to avoid distressing situations at all costs so it's just normal for us to protect ourselves after suffering from rejection. We get so traumatised and we tend to let fear and anxiety consume us. But even though it hurts so bad, it’s really important for us to undergo the stages of grief after being rejected to be able to fully deal with it the healthy way.

“Most fears of rejection rest on the desire for approval from other people. Don't base your self-esteem on their opinions.”

― Harvey Mackay

What are your core beliefs? Studies show that our beliefs contribute to how we react to painful rejection. To establish core belief system, start by doing regular daily reflection because it helps a lot in shifting to a mindset that focuses more on growth and personality development. Also give yourself positive affirmations everyday as a reminder of your self-worth. This will surely give you enough strength to cope in case you would be rejected again in the future.

“It is necessary to put yourself out for rejection, and accept that you will be rejected.”

― Robert Genn

You may hear others say to you “Hang in there! It’s not the end of the world.” Although you would think that it’s easier said than done because they don’t have any idea what you’re going through but never let negative feelings get the best of you. Just take all the advice you can get. Always remember that your feelings are only temporary - may it be anger, sadness and self-pity. Have the courage to move forward, knowing that you have learned valuable lessons from this experience.

“A rejection is nothing more than a necessary step in the pursuit of success.”

― Bo Bennett

“Do not waste yourself in rejection; do not bark against the bad, but chant the beauty of the good.”

― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Go the extra mile

When you try to give 110% effort in everything you do, you can definitely go further, and perhaps even go beyond the previous benchmarks that you have set. Always deliver more than expected. Constantly push the boundaries. There are no limits to what you can accomplish!

“If you're going to be a winner in life, you have to constantly go beyond your best.”

― Robert Kiyosaki,

Businessman and Author of Rich Dad Poor Dad

Uncover your potential using self-affirmation

When you work towards your goals, sometimes self-doubt and the fear of failure can get in the way and you feel discouraged as a result of the prolonged negative thinking. Escape this pattern and start using self-affirmations to gain the confidence you need to succeed. There are already so much negativity around us so we need to balance everything out and use affirmations as our mental vitamins to improve our mindset.

“Regardless of how you feel inside, always try to look like a winner. Even if you are behind, a sustained look of control and confidence can give you a mental edge that results in victory.”

― Diane Arbus, Photographer

Practice is everything

The more you do something, the better you get at doing it. Practicing effectively is the only way to excel so if you want to develop important skills, you need to have the patience to practice.

“Winners embrace hard work.”

“No matter what happens on the field,

getting an education makes you a winner.”

Lou Holtz,

Former Football Player, Coach, and Analyst

When at first you don’t succeed, don’t give up easily! Quitting will not solve anything. You may not be able to beat the odds on your first try but you need to let your challenges shape you, don’t let them bring you down. They are building blocks of life that gives you the opportunity to grow and flourish.

The mind is powerful. When you establish and continue to develop the right belief system, you will find yourself winning victory after victory while overcoming your weaknesses at the same time. Learn how to face and conquer your fears. Don’t tread lightly. Always keep the momentum up!

The road that leads to success may be long and winding, but it doesn’t really matter how you travel; as long as you have the right mindset, your personal journey will be a more meaningful and enjoyable experience.

The winner's edge is not in a gifted birth, a high IQ, or in talent. The winner's edge is all in the attitude, not aptitude. Attitude is the criterion for success.
