The CHC40213 Certificate IV in Education Support reflects the role of workers in a range of education settings, including public and independent schools and community education settings, who provide assistance and support to teachers and students under broad-based supervision. Some job roles may require tasks to be performed with a moderate level of autonomy and/or the provision of supervision/leadership to other staff/volunteers.

Workplace training:

There is a mandatory work placement requirement of a minimum of 100 hours to complete this course. Students are provided with a learner guide and project workbook, for the work placement and course materials. The work placement hours must be in an Australian regulated government school (pre-primary, primary and secondary), private/non-government school (pre-primary, primary and secondary), education centre, primary school kindergarten, special educational centre, community educational centre.

Students will be required to complete:

HLTAID003 Provide first aid

You will need to undertake the first aid course unit externally, in your area (additional cost) and submit a copy of your certification to the College.

Entry requirements

No formal entry requirements.

Australian College requires:

  • Competent in spoken and written English
  • Successful completion of an LLN review prior to commencement
  • At least 16 years of age*
  • Access to a PC/laptop or similar, email address, internet
  • Additional reading materials and textbooks may be used throughout the course.

*Students under 18 year of age will need to provide parent/guardian consent.

Students enrolled in all early childhood courses will also need to demonstrate evidence of the following prior to their work placement. Failure to produce evidence of this will mean the student is unable to commence or complete their mandatory work placement and therefore, unable to complete their course:

  • Working With Children Check
  • National Police Check
  • Health checks (where required by the childcare centre)
  • Immunisation records are up to date

Overseas Students Policy

As defined in the ESOS Act 2000, 'Overseas students' are not eligible to enrol in this nationally recognised course, nor are they eligible for certification. Please refer to the Enrolment Terms and Conditions.
